A NUMBER of pubs and a brewery on the outskirts of Chester have been named as community heroes during lockdown. Eddisbury MP, Edward Timpson CBE, has announced the names of the pubs and breweries that have achieved his Covid Community Hero Award following the reopening of hospitality venues this month. The award has national backing from the All-Party Parliamentary Beer Group who support the responsible enjoyment of beer and the role of pubs in the UK. Hostelries and breweries in the Eddisbury constituency were recognised for their work through lockdowns over the past year in serving their communities in innovative and unique ways.

She said: “I entertained President Yeltsin during a trip to London. He kissed my hand and gratefully presented me with the little box, which has a note inside from him.

The 91-year-old former MP, who is the only woman to have been elected Speaker of the Commons, is auctioning off around 40 decorative items that tell the story of her colourful working life.
The treasures include a gift box given to her by the late Russian president Boris Yeltsin during her eight years as Speaker, two Victorian crystal chandeliers and a decanter from the Royal Navy.
A limited-edition ceramic figure of Lawrence of Arabia riding on a camel, which is one of only six made, will also go under the hammer to fetch an estimated £350.
