256 DHAKA, Jan 13, 2021 (BSS) – Stocks today witnessed a downward trend after showing three days of positive trend as risk-averse investors went for short-term profit booking on sector-specific shares. DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went down by 1.55 percent or 91.02 points to settle at 5,770.01. Two other indices also closed lower. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, fell 35.10 points to finish at 2,159.88 and the DSE Shariah Index lost 21.03 points to close at 1,301.64. Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, stood at Taka 21.08 billion on the country’s premier bourse which was Taka 19.83 billion at the previous session of the week.

Stocks end 2020 maintaining gaining streak 296 DHAKA, Dec 30, 2020 (BSS) – Country’s both the bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) today closed trading at the last session of outgoing year 2020, maintaining the gaining streak. DSEX, prime index of DSE, went up by 43.80 points or 0.81 per cent to settle at 5,402. It has been the highest since June 30, 2019, when DSEX was 5,421. DSEX added more than 304 points or 6.0 per cent in the past six consecutive sessions. Two other indices also closed higher. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, soared 27.38 points to finish at 1,963 and the DSE Shariah Index rose 8.64 points to close at 1,242.

DSEX, the prime index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 14.24 points or 0.26 per cent to settle at 5,358. It has been the highest since July 4, 2019, when DSEX was 5,380. Two other indices also edged higher. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, gained 12.31 points to finish at 1,936 and the DSE Shariah Index rose 1.81 points to close at 1,233. Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, stood at Taka 13.83 billion on the country’s premier bourse, rising by 2.75 per cent over the previous day’s turnover of Taka 13.47 billion.

Price fall in large-cap drives stocks down 305 DHAKA, Dec 22, 2020 (BSS) – Stocks today witnessed downward trend due mainly to price fall in large-cap securities. DSEX, the key index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went down by 16.71 points or 0.32 per cent to settle at below the 5,100-mark to 5,098. Two other indices also edged lower. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, lost 5.69 points to finish at 1,812 and the DSE Shariah Index shed 4.91 points to close at 1,177. Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, fell to Taka 9.75 billion, which was 14.25 per cent lower than the previous day’s one month highest turnover of Taka 11.37 billion.
