Cement sales grow 40 4pc in April

Business May 5, 2021 LAHORE: Cement sales – local and exports – raced ahead in double-digit growth in April compared to the COVID-addled last year haunted by lockdown, but there was an eight percent decline month-on-month due to Ramazan slowdown. Total sales of 4.9 million tons were 40.4 percent up from 3.5 million tons in the corresponding month of last fiscal year, according to the data released by All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA). Local cement sales increased to 4.06 million tons from 3.2 million tons, an increase of 24.3 percent. Exports also increased 252 percent, from 249,127 tons to 877,163 tons. In March 2020, total cement dispatches were 5.37 million tons, according to the APCMA data.

Salman Khan KARACHI: Robust construction activities boosted cement sales by 24.3 per cent during April 2021 to 4.066 million tonnes versus 3.271m tonnes in the same month last year. Exports posted a massive growth of 252pc to 877,163 tonnes during April 2021 from 249,127 tonnes a year ago. As a result, total cement dispatches (local sales and exports) grew by 40.41pc in April 2021 to 4.943m tonnes as against 3.52m tonnes during the same month of 2020, figures released by All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) showed on Tuesday. During April 2021, the North-based cement mills dispatched 3.377m tonnes in the domestic markets, up by 15.33pc over 2.928m tonnes from a year ago. South-based mills sales stood at 688,239 tonnes in the local markets during April this year, depicting a jump of 100pc compared to 342,594 tonnes in April 2020.

According to the data released by the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA), local cement despatches during the month of April 2021 increased to 4.066 million tonnes from 3.271 million tons in April 2020, showing a healthy increase of 24.29 percent. Exports also increased significantly by 252 percent, from 249,127 tonnes in April 2020 to 877,163 tonnes in April 2021. In April 2021, the North-based cement mills despatched 3.377 million tonnes of cement in domestic markets showing an increase of 15.33 percent over 2.928 million tonnes despatches in April 2020. South-based mills despatched 688,239 tonnes of cement in local markets during April 2020 registering a robust increase of 100% compared to the despatches of 342,594 tonnes in April 2020.

Pakistan sees 44% rise in demand for March 06 April 2021 Pakistan’s cement sector posted its highest-ever monthly growth of 44.4 per cent YoY for March 2021, rising to 5.773Mt from 3.722Mt in the year-ago period on the back of an increase in domestic consumption and exports. The All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association reported a 42 per cent increase in local cement dispatches to 4.563Mt, compared to 3.214Mt in March 2020. Exports also advanced 60 per cent YoY from 507,480t to 810,962t. During the 9MFY20-21, total cement dispatches climbed 17 per cent to 43.325Mt from 37.035Mt. Local dispatches increased by 18.3 per cent to 36.182Mt from 30.588Mt, while exports rose 11 per cent YoY to 7.144Mt.
