The 2021 SuperDraft features several changes compared to last year. The pandemic means the draft experience will be entirely virtual rather than having the first round produced as a TV experience in a central location. There is no longer a second day with rounds 3 and 4 in fact there’s no longer a Round 4 (although four teams have a total of five picks after the end of the third round this year).
Seattle Sounders FC will not pick until 80th, and don’t really have assets to trade up. Their limited cash resources will need to be focused on starting-caliber talent rather than college prospects. As a reminder, they traded away their 2021 first-round pick for Roman Torres. The Vancouver Whitecaps have Seattle’s second round pick thanks for that international slot back in 2019.

New Illini head coach Bret Bielema has announced a few additions to his coaching staff. Tony Petersen will be joining the team as Offensive Coordinator, and Bart Miller will join the staff as the offensive line coach.
As for player personnel, Brandon Peters will be returning for the 2021 season, while Kendrick Green’s next stop is the NFL.
Petersen first coaching domino to fall
Late Monday night the news broke that Petersen will be joining Bret Bielema’s staff as offensive coordinator.
Jayson Oweh and Shaka Toney were both named All-Big Ten First Team, while Jaquan Brisker, Lamont Wade, and Joey Porter Jr. earned All-Big Ten Third Team honors.
Toney was named to the First Team by both the media and coaches after earning second-team honors last season from just the coaches. The senior defensive end has been one of the anchors of Brent Pry’s defense this season, totaling 25 tackles, 6.5 for a loss, four sacks, and one forced fumble.
On the other end of the line, Oweh has put together a really strong season against the run, which earned him the first-team nod from the coaches. He has posted 38 tackles, 6.5 for a loss, and one pass deflection in seven games played. His 38 tackles rank No. 4 on the team, an impressive mark for a defensive lineman.
