The All Progressives Congress (APC) has responded to the claim by former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Attahiru Jega, who described both the ruling party and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as embroiled in cesspit of corruption.
Professor Jega, who spoke in Kaduna, asked Nigerians to seek for an alternative platform to the two main political parties in the forthcoming general elections.
But the APC, in its response last night, urged the former INEC chair not to lump it with the main opposition party.
National Secretary, Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) of the APC,, Senator John James Akpanudoedehe, in a statement, said the judgment of Professor Jega lacks scholarly research and was not evidenced based.

Meanwhile, the ruling All Peoples Congress (APC) and main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are yet to make their positions known on zoning.
The southeast, southwest and south-south zones make up the southern region.
South-south produced former President Goodluck Jonathan, who ruled for five years.
Southwest produced Olusegun Obasanjo from Ogun State, who ruled for eight years. Obasanjo was president between 1999 and 2007.
The southeast comprising the Igbo states of Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo are fiercely agitating for zoning of the presidential power in 2023.

Acting on the recommendation by the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Usman Baba, to suspend the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, over his indictment by United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Police Service Commission (PSC), yesterday, approved the IG request and has suspended Kyari.
The Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Usman Baba, had Sunday recommended the immediate suspension of Deputy Commisioner of Police and Head of the Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT), Mr. Abba Kyari.
He had also set up a four-man Special Investigative Panel (SIP) headed by Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Force Criminal Investigations, DIG, Joseph Egbunike, to investigate all the allegations contained in the relevant US court documents served the Nigeria Police by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
