COVID-19 third wave: Sanwo-Olu issues order to residents as Lagos is placed on red alert

The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has told residents to adhere strictly to the safety protocols in the state.
This comes after Lagos was placed on red alert along with the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, and five other states by the Federal Government.
The Delta variant of COVID-19 has been confirmed in Nigeria amid the rising number of infections and hospitalization in the country.
Sanwo-Olu, speaking at the presentation of the party flag to all the chairmanship candidates of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the forthcoming Local Government Elections on July 24, 2021, said: “Government will continue to do its best to manage the situation but citizens must play their own part by adhering strictly to the protocol.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has launched a legal battle at the Supreme Court to reclaim its mandate from Zamfara State Governor, Alhaji Bello Matawalle, as well as federal and state lawmakers that defected along with him to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The new suit, filed solely by the PDP as the petitioner/plaintiff, is different from the one filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja by members of the PDP in Zamfara State, seeking to the removal of the governor.

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has congratulated Muslims faithful and urged them to utilize this period of renewal of faith and expression of thanksgiving to pray for peace to reign in Nigeria.
The party’s Directorate of Publicity, Research, and Strategy signed by its Director, Barr Kunle Oyatomi in a goodwill message to the faithful further called on the Muslims Ummah to pray for an end to kidnapping, banditry and incessant killing which dominated some parts of the country.
In his messages, the party congratulated the Muslims and called them to imbibe and uphold the lessons of love, charity, brotherliness, generosity, and peaceful coexistence which the festival teaches.

The Labour Party has told Governor Dapo Abiodun to face his duties as the elected governor of Ogun State instead of gallivanting all over the State.
DAILY POST reports that Abiodun, in the last one week, has been touring the local governments in Ogun to campaign for candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the July 24 local government elections, saying the there is no other party in the state.
But, the Labour Party warned Gov Abiodun and the Ogun State Independent National Electoral Commission to desist from plans to rig the local government polls.
