The Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle, has threatened to give his deputy, Mahdi Aliyu, “the treatment he deserves” if he dares him.
The gap appears to be widening between Matawalle and Aliyu, after the governor dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Aliyu has refused to follow Matawalle to APC and even addressed a rally of the PDP, the platform that brought the two of them to power, to reaffirm his loyalty to the party.
His decision has left Matawalle unimpressed. He told the Hausa Service of Deutsch Welle on Saturday, that he was getting fed up with Aliyu’s disrespectful attitude.
One of my favourite Igbo proverbs says: “What a dog saw and started barking ferociously is the same thing a goat saw and merely grunted.” As young as I am, I have seen so much in this country that when people are barking over a thing, I just sigh. Yet we are reacting to the same stimulus. Inside me, I retort: “What else do we expect? How can we sow the wind and not expect to reap the whirlwind?” I have painstakingly studied the history of Nigeria. I have lived through 13 administrations, old enough in 11 of them to be able to distinguish between my right and left hands. I have researched into key issues per time, per administration. I have observed the trajectory. Nigeria seems to be permanently on auto replay. So, all I do these days is sigh when people scream.
• Talks About President From South Without Restructuring Inappropriate, Amount To Shadow-boxing – Falae • Issue Of 2023 Presidency Requires Conscience, Truth, Equity – Ohanaeze Ndigbo • Concentration Of Presidency In One Zone Might Weaken Democracy – Babatope
With innumerable interest groups firing diatribes and laying claims to the Presidency in 2023, elder statesmen, socio-political and socio-cultural groups in the South are engaging a higher gear in their bid to realise the emergence of a president of southern extraction.
According to them, while it smacks of gross insensitivity to retain power in the North beyond May 29, 2023, southern political big wigs must engage in serious horse-trading with their counterparts from other parts of the country in order to make the rotational presidency stay on course.

To enhance teaching and studying of Science and Technology education in Ogun State, the state governor, Dapo Abiodun, has announced the transformation of the Tai Solarin College of Education, Omu-Ijebu, to Sikiru Adetona College of Science, Education and Technology.
Abiodun, who noted education has played important role in the development of the state, said his administration would continue to focus on science and technology education, to boost technological development of Ogun.
The governor equally declared that his government would set a Special Task Force to deal with the menace of cultism, not only in the educational institutions, but in all the nooks and crannies of the state. Abiodun made these known yesterday at the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign for the forthcoming council poll, held at Odogbolu town, Odogbolu Local Government Area.
