I want to know which way Nigeria is heading to.
Almost thirty-eight years after, the questions asked by Sunny Okosun in that song are still relevant. His questions then were in response to rising inflation, inefficiency at individual and national levels, insecurity, indiscipline, corruption, and national geopolitical tension. He argued that government alone should not be blamed for Nigeria s woes as all Nigerians have to share in the blame.
As we enter the year 2021, the question is still “which way Nigeria ooooo?” This year Nigeria is supposed to be celebrating her 61st independence anniversary. Naturally, a man of 61 years old would have had the most active days of his life behind him. If he was a civil servant in Nigeria, he would have retired from active service and likely spend most of his time with his grandchildren. He would either have made it in life or failed in life. This age is not the age of second chances.

A member of the House of Representatives from Ondo State, Hon Peter Makinde, on Tuesday, defected from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Hon Makinde, in his letter of defection, read to members at the plenary on Tuesday by the Speaker, Rep.Femi Gbajabiamila, blamed the defection on the alleged division in the ADC for a very long time now which deferred all solutions.
However, after reading the letter, Rep Gbajabiamila said to the lawmaker, “you’re welcome to the progressive party” while several members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) shouted “point of order!! point of order !! point of order!!!”

A member of the House of Representatives from Ondo State, Peter Makinde, has defected from the African Democratic Congress to the All Progressives Congress.
Makinde, in his letter of defection, read to members at the plenary on Tuesday by the Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, blamed the defection on the alleged division in the ADC.
“You’re welcome to the progressive party,” Gbajabiamila said after reading the letter.
Several members of the Peoples Democratic Party, however, screamed point of order.
A leader of the minority caucus, Nicholas Ossai, who was allowed to speak, however, protested against the defection, stating that it breached Section 68 of the Constitution.
