Tributes to father, husband and Stratford businessman, Fred Winter

FRED Winter, the former managing director of the Stratford family-run department store, has died aged 86.
A father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Mr Winter fell ill around Christmas time with a form of dementia and died on Saturday 20th February.
It was Mr Winterâs great-grandfather Frederick who created the Fred Winter store, originally situated in Stratford High Street, in 1858.
Educated at Bloxham School, Mr Winter â who was born in Loxley in May 1934 â joined the family business after three years in the RAF and some apprenticeships, including one at the David Morgan department store in Cardiff.
Warwickshire trading standards warn of criminals selling sick and stolen puppies

Warwickshire residents looking for a new pet are being warned about criminals selling stolen and sick puppies.
Warwickshire County Councilâs Trading Standards Service also said that in some cases, to dogs donât even exist,
Warwickshire County Councillor Andy Crump, Portfolio Holder for Community Safety said: âThe popularity of owning a dog has increased since the pandemic began, such that demand for puppies has gone through the roof and prices for many breeds have more than doubled. Unfortunately, this has encouraged criminals to get involved, leading to more puppy thefts and prospective owners paying huge sums for stolen or sick puppies or large deposits for puppies that don t even exist.
Stratford mum works through cancer pain to create amazing wedding dress

WORKING on any dress is a labour of love for Laura Callard.
However, her latest wedding gown creation, which has taken a year to complete, has been more significant than any other as Laura, 41, has been fighting terminal cancer.

A mother to two young children â Emilia, nine, and Daniel, seven â and wife to Ian, the designer and seamstress wanted to finish the dress for a collection at Boho Bride Boutique, where she had been working.
âThe dress has been made by me and given to the collection out of love and the reason it has taken me longer than it would normally do is I am extremely fatigued because of my cancer and chemotherapy,â she said.
May opening planned for Shakespeare s birthplace in Stratford

Shakespeareâs birthplace will reopen to visitors in May â should the Covid-19 rules allow.
The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust said it is making preparations to reopen the Henley Street house and gift shop following the governmentâs response to easing lockdown restrictions.
While the birthplace could open again on Monday, 17th May after being closed for seven months, the gift shop will open on 12th April in line with the reopening of non-essential retail.
The trust said it is also planning for a phased reopening of more of its other properties, and will announce the details in due course.
