PNP in Central Luzon to meet with DILG to diffuse political tension in Jaen
Published February 11, 2021 12:03am Philippine National Police chief Police General Debold Sinas on Wednesday ordered the PNP s regional director in Central Luzon to make representations with the Department of the Interior and Local Government to help diffuse the political tension in Jaen, Nueva Ecija. In a statement, Sinas said he instructed PNP regional director for Central Luzon Police Brigadier General Valeriano de Leon to coordinate with the DILG in the region. “The explosion at 8:00PM on Tuesday in Poblacion Jaen has all the indications of political motive apparently related to the contested mayoral seat of the Municipality of Jaen, Sinas said.

+ February 08, 2021 UNIDENTIFIED men threw a grenade in front of the house of Mayor Sylvia Austria of Jaen, Nueva Ecija on Saturday, February 6, 2021, but it did not explode.
Police said surveillance camera footage showed two men on a motorcycle hurled the grenade.
Investigation is ongoing.
In December 2020, the municipal hall of Jaen was rocked by two explosions from improvised explosive devices (IED). No one was hurt in the incident.
These incidents have been traced to the tension caused by the political rivalry between Austria and Antonio Esquivel.
In December, Austria stepped down from post following the decision of the Regional Trial Court Branch 87 in favor of Esquivel s election protest.

New Nueva Ecija town mayor assumes post Artemio Dumlao
BAGUIO CITY , Philippines Mayor Sylvia Austria of Jaen, Nueva Ecija stepped down from her post on Monday following a court ruling affirming the victory of her rival in the 2019 elections.
Officials of the Department of the Interior and Local Government-Central Luzon and Nueva Ecija offices installed Antonio Esquivel, who has been holding office at the treasurer’s office since Dec. 7 after the Gapan City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 87 ruled in favor of his election protest against Austria.
The court nullified Austria’s proclamation and issued a certificate of finality and writ of execution on Dec. 16.
