Google releases Developer Preview 3 of Android 12 Google has made Developer Preview 3 available for the next major release of Android, version 12, which is due to appear before the end of the year. Note that the only devices that can run the preview are Google’s own Pixel 3, 3a, 4, 4a, 4a (5G), or 5. As always for these developer-only releases, you will need to install a system image and update the relevant SDK tools. Google’s VP of Engineering, Dave Burke, writes: “In Android 12 we’re continuing to focus on making the OS smarter, easier to use, and better performing, with privacy and security at the core. We’re also working to give you new tools for building great experiences for users on phones, laptops, tablets, TVs, or cars. Some things to check out in today’s release include a new app launch experience, new video and camera capabilities to help you get more out of underlying hardware support, and a new permission for exact alarms to help users save battery.”
