Abia government calls on teachers to return to classroom

TODAY File Photo Abia State Government has called on members of the state chapter of Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) to avoid being used by political detractors and return to class immediately. In a statement endorsed by the state Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, which was made available to newsmen in Umuahia on Sunday, primary and junior secondary school teachers have received up to November 2020 salary with only December outstanding. He also informed that the state government paid 3 months salary to secondary school teachers in December 2020 as part of efforts to clear backlogs owed them with a promise to pay at least another 2 months in January 2021.

ABSUTH makes clarifications on Kalu paying salary arrears of workers

Daily Post Nigeria Published The Board and Management of Abia State University Teaching Hospital (ABSUTH) have refuted the information circulating on social media, claiming that ABSUTH has turned to Sen. Kalu to pay salary arrears. This is coming barely one week after Government commenced the payment of the arrears as earlier promised by the Governor. Chairman of the Governing Council, ABSUTH, Dr Wokoh Davidson, in a statement made available to DAILY POST said that the institution frowns seriously at such outlandish calls that has no substance. According to him, ABSUTH is not aware of such visit to any Senator. He also stated that ABSUTH did not and will never authorize such a statement.
