Abilene police investigating north Abilene homicide

Abilene Police Department detectives are investigating a homicide at a home in north Abilene, the department said in a statement Thursday.
The victim, 26-year-old Joseph Rogers of Abilene, was pronounced dead at Hendrick Medical Center after being transported with obvious signs of trauma from a knife, according to police reports.
Police were called to a residence in the 1800 block of University Boulevard at 9 p.m. Wednesday on an injured subject call.
Initial investigation indicates that there was an altercation between the victim and a subject possibly known to him, police said.
No arrests have been made.
Abilene police arrest man on injury to a child charges
Abilene police arrested a man for an alleged injury to a child Thursday morning after responding to reports of a disturbance in the 3200 block of Rolling Green Drive.
Police went to an apartment and spoke to the suspect, who according to reports originally stated there was just an argument, and that his wife and children had left.
When told there had been accusations of assault, the suspect told police the act was more playful than assaultive, according to reports.
The man was arrested, however, and taken to jail.
The child s mother provided police with a statement indicating she wanted to press charges on behalf of the juvenile victim and requested an emergency protective order.
Pedestrian Killed In Early Morning Crash
ABILENE, TX – A Lubbock man was killed in Abilene early Saturday morning in a fatal crash involving a pedestrian.
According to the Abilene Police Department, 30-year-old Nicholas Mills of Abilene was driving along the Winters Fwy when he struck 24-year-old Mark Burrow of Lubbock around 1:45 a.m.
Mills left the scene and called police stating he believed he had struck a person with his vehicle. When Abilene Police Department responded to the area, they found Burrow s body deceased near Southwest Drive and the southbound side of the Winters Fwy. near the on ramp.
Mills was later located at his home in the Lytle South area. He was subsequently arrested and charged with second-degree felony intoxicated manslaughter and second-degree felony failure to stop and render aid.
Abilene Police Looking for Fugitive Shooting Suspect
ABILENE, TX – Abilene Police are looking for 21-year-old Miguel Rangel and need help finding him.
On Sunday, a shooting took place on the 300 block of Orange St. and police found a vehicle with bullet holes in it. One male victim was transported to Hendrick Hospital with minor injuries.
Now police say Miguel Rangel has an Aggravated Assault Charge from this shooting.
