The walkathon will begin from the current Turahalli tree park, with the group walking around the periphery of the Turahalli forest. The walkathon has been divided into three phases; two kilometres, five kilometres and 10 kilometres. updated: Feb 04 2021, 01:48 ist Residents of Kanakapura Road, Turahalli and Gubbalala held a protest on Wednesday morning against the state government’s decision to create a 400-acre tree park in the Turahalli Reserve Forest. Protesting outside the Turahalli forest, they asked the government to immediately stop the excavation work inside the forest area. A day after spotting earth excavators working along the forest’s periphery, residents took up cudgels asking the forest area to be left alone. Abdul Aleem, co-founder of Changemakers of Kanakapura Road, said: “There is no point in converting an existing forest into a tree park by planting more trees. All one needs to do is to retain the forest and it will come up on its own.”

Govt working to enhance energy mix: Omar Ayub January 28, 2021 Minister for Power Division Omar Ayub says the government is working to enhance energy mix with the target to generate eighty percent of electricity through indigenous resources by 2030.  He was addressing a seminar titled Maritime Economy and its Linkage to National Security, organized by National Institute of Maritime Affairs, in Islamabad today (Thursday). The Minister said this energy mix will include sixty percent energy through clean and green resources, ten percent each from nuclear and Thar coal resources. He said this will greatly help reduce import bill of the country. Omar Ayub said the government has invested forty-seven billion rupees on transmission and seventy-four billion rupees on distribution system to make the power sector efficient and responsive.
