MARDAN: Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (Awkum) has released Rs160 million as scholarships to the deserving students.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Zahoorul Haq said that the university was focussing on scholarships for deserving students. “We are considering a plan to ensure a scholarship to every 5th student of the university in the future,” he added.
He said that in this period, Awkum was ranked number one in Pakistan by Times Higher Education. “The university was ranked at 300 globally, 24 in Asia and 3rd in South Asia using the research and citation data. No university has ever accomplished such a remarkable accomplishment in the history of the country,” he said.
AWKUM’s 8 sacked officials await final decision

PESHAWAR: Procedural delays and possible interference at certain levels are hampering the provision of justice to the sacked officials of Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM).
According to sources, the eight officials of the university were removed from service by the University Syndicate in its 30th meeting in June last year.
The employees submitted an appeal for a personal hearing with KP Governor Shah Farman, who is also chancellor of the public sector universities. It was accepted and the personal hearing was held in November 2020.
During the personal hearing, all the officers defended their position and the university administration tried to justify the action taken against the officials, the sources said.

PESHAWAR: Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (Awkum) organised a three-day online conference titled “Recent Trends in Social Sciences, Cohesion and Familial Life.”
The conference was jointly organised by the Departments of Sociology and International Relations. The conference provided a platform to the academicians, scholars, professionals, social scientists, and government representatives to raise scholarly discussion on the key social issues affecting and influencing the recent developments in the field of social sciences.
The conference also discussed the recent trends in social sciences and its influence on national and foreign policy. Scholars presented various perspectives on the key issues, affecting and promoting social cohesion at familial, communal, social, national, and international relationships.
Future of private BA, MA students hangs in balance

Thousands of students, who are enrolled in higher education as private candidates, would no longer be able to continue their education after 31 March as the Higher Education Commission (HEC) has directed the universities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to stop enrolment of private students for BA and MA examinations, writes Mohammad Ashfaq for
