KUWAIT CITY, April 10: A total of 23 MPs have signed the proposal of MP Badr Al-Mullah to dismiss the National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim for violating the Constitution when he voted in favor of suspending the grilling motions against His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled for almost one and a half year. Some parties consider the proposal a deal between Al-Mullah and the government, pointing out this will be a precedent for the next governments to dismiss the Assembly speaker with the support of only 17 MPs.
Meanwhile, MP Hamdan Al-Azmi said the announcement of the government that its agenda includes imposing tax, increasing fees and obtaining loans revealed the reason behind protecting HH the Prime Minister against grilling motions for one and a half year. He stressed that any measure aimed at touching the citizens’ pockets is outrightly rejected, asserting this is a red line and the last nail in the coffin of the government.

KUWAIT CITY, April 5: Former MP Badr Al-Dahoum filed an appeal at the Court of Cassation regarding the Constitutional Court’s decision to cancel his parliamentary membership despite the final verdict of the Court of Cassation which confirmed the legitimacy of his candidacy and victory in the 2020 National Assembly elections. Al-Dahoum disclosed he is hoping that the response to his appeal confirms the finality of verdicts issued by the Court of Cassation; hence, such verdicts should not be appealed by any other court or subject to other courts cancelling them or issuing a contradictory decision.

In another development, MP Marzouq Al-Khalifa called on National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim to resign; otherwise, the latter should be dismissed soon.
