Massillon resident Teddy L Castle convicted of rape, gets 25-29 years

A Massillon man will spend up to 29 years in prison after admitting to child rape and other charges. Teddy L. Castle, 42, appeared via video Thursday at his plea hearing Thursday in Stark County Common Pleas Court. He pleaded guilty two counts of rape, one count of gross sexual imposition and two counts of sexual battery. The sexual assaults occurred over a period of six years and led to the underage victim becoming pregnant, according to county prosecutors. A fetal DNA test linked Castle to the crimes. Court records filed in the case by county prosecutors indicate Castle threatened to harm the victim or others if she didn t comply.

Canton Negro Oldtimers will continue under agreement with Canton

CANTON  The Canton Negro Oldtimers Activity Center and city have reached an agreement that allows the center s doors to stay open. The city sought to close the facility at 1016 12th Street NE by filing a civil nuisance complaint last year in Stark County Common Pleas Court. It described disturbances to the neighborhood and numerous visits from police 116 times from Jan. 1, 2019 to July 31, 2020  for criminal activity often involving drugs and guns. Judge Natalie Haupt presided over the case. Last week, the city and Oldtimers came to a solution. It permits the OIdtimers to host charitable and social events under certain conditions:

Canal Fulton Police Chief Douglas Swartz said first responders from Canal Fulton and Lawrence Township police and fire departments were sent to the 650 block of Colony Road for an explosion at approximately 8:48 p.m. on Feb. 25.
