The verdict in this regard was pronounced by CBI special court judge J Sanal Kumar.
The quantum of sentence will be pronounced on Wednesday.

A special CBI court in Thiruvananthapuram has found
to life in prison. Kottoor, 69, and Sephy, 55, were charged under Section 302 (murder) and Section 201 (destruction of evidence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The verdict came 28 years after the body of the nun was found in a well of her convent hostel in Kottayam. During the course of the hearing, the HC had allowed the discharge petition of Father Puthrikkayl, the third accused in the case.

Special CBI Judge K Sanal Kumar will hear convicts Father Thomas Kottoor and Sister Sefi on Wednesday and pronounce the sentence, according to

In a 28-year-old case related to the murder of a Catholic nun in Kottayam, a CBI court in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday found two accused -- priest Thomas Kottoor and nun Sister Sefi -- guilty. The punishment for the duo in the longest-running investigation will be pronounced by CBI special court judge K Sanal Kumar on Wednesday.
Seventy-one-year-old Kottoor, a scholar in moral theology, is the first accused and 57-year-old Sefi is the third accused in the case.
The state police had initially concluded the 19-year-old nun Sister Abhaya, a student of Kottayam's BCM College, and a member of the Knanaya Catholic community died by suicide on March 27, 1992. This was as she went from her hostel room to the kitchen at around 4.15 AM.

Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 22: A CBI court has held Father Thomas Kottoor and Sister Sephy guilty in the Sister Abhaya murder case. The quantum of the sentence will be pronounced on December 23.
The case goes back to March 1992 when Sister Abhaya, a Catholic nun, was found dead in a water well of her convent in Kottayam. The CBI submitted that the Abhaya case is one of the oldest criminal pending cases in the state and the spread of COVID cannot be projected as a reason for further delaying disposal of the case.

The special court of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), a federal agency, convicted Father Thomas Kottoor and Sister Sephy on Dec. 22 but said the quantum of punishment would be announced on Dec. 23.
