In Chicago, communities with the lowest vaccination rates continue to have high case counts and rates of hospitalization and death even in teens and young adults, she continued. The FDA s decision on Monday will now be followed by a meeting of the CDC s federal vaccine advisory committee, the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (known as ACIP), to discuss whether to recommend the shot for 12- to 15-year-olds.

CHICAGO - The city of Chicago is launching a special series of concerts exclusively for residents who have been fully-vaccinated against the coronavirus.
The series, called the Protect Chicago Music Series, will be held monthly, with the first event taking place on Saturday, May 22. DJ Ron Trent and Duane Powell are scheduled to perform at The Silverroom in Hyde Park.
The last day to get vaccinated for the first concert will be May 8. Tickets for the event will be released on Monday, May 11 at noon through The Silveroom s Eventbrite RSVP portal. Attendees will need to bring their CDC vaccination card and a matching photo ID to get in.
Events will be ticketed and attendees must bring their Centers for Disease Control and Prevention vaccination card as proof of vaccination, as well as a matching photo ID, officials said.
The first event will be held on May 22 in the city s Hyde Park neighborhood, with DJ Ron Trent and Duane Powell performing, officials said. Based on that date, anyone who receives their final dose of the vaccine by May 8 will be eligible to attend.
Tickets can be found on Eventbrite, at vaccination sites and at will call. The city said for the first event, tickets will be made available first to people who attend a vaccination event at Apostolic Faith Church, located at 3823 S. Indiana Ave., between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. on May 8. Residents can register for a vaccination appointment here, though walk-ins will also be accepted.

Attendees must be fully vaccinated to secure a spot, meaning they ve received the final dose of a two-dose vaccine or a single-dose vaccine on or before May 8, two weeks prior to the first concert.
