Cridland, who was 88 years old, died at Upstate University Hospital on Wednesday.
Cridland, educated at Harrow and Ealing Schools of Art in London, emigrated to Canada and then the United States with his wife, his obituary said.
He worked for a number of companies including Crouse-Hinds and Pulos Design Associates in Syracuse before joining the faculty of Syracuse University’s College of Visual and Performing Arts. He taught classes ranging from figure drawing to industrial design, and exhibited in faculty shows.
His artistic work includes a statue of St. Marianne Cope, the first saint from Central New York.

WADDINGTON, N.Y. (WWNY) - A man who allegedly caused a disturbance at a Waddington motel Saturday night ended up crashing his vehicle and suffering serious injuries.
State police say 48-year-old Vincent Perelli of Waddington allegedly created a disturbance at the River Motel and fled the scene in a 2016 Jeep Cherokee.
Police say he failed to negotiate a curve on State Route 37 near the McGinnis Road, went off the side of the road and then down an embankment. The SUV became airborne, landed, and rolled several times before coming to rest on the passenger side.
