AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - The VA Health clinic in Amarillo and Lubbock has Moderna COVID-19 vaccines available for Saturday, Feb. 27.
The clinic in Amarillo is open from 8:30 a.m. to noon and the clinic in Lubbock is from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Appointments are available in Clovis on March 3 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and then 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - The Thomas E. Creek VA Medical Center, will begin COVID-19 vaccination with the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine today following the U.S. Food and Drug Administrationâs Emergency Use Authorization for this vaccine.
âThe Amarillo VA Health Care System is eager to immediately offer the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine to community living center residents and health care personnel,â said Dr. Rodney Gonzalez, Medical Center Director. âReceiving the vaccine is like having hope delivered. As vaccine supplies increase, our ultimate goal is to offer COVID-19 vaccination to all veterans and employees who want to be vaccinated.â

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - The Amarillo VA Health Care System received their first shipment of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine today.
“Right before I joined, I watched our first 1,000 doses of the Moderna vaccine being delivered to our hospital,” said Dr. Rodney Gonzales, director of the Amarillo VA, during a news conference.
Gonzales said frontline workers at the Amarillo VA will be first to receive the vaccine, followed by outpatient veterans.
“We plan to start vaccinating today,” he said. “We have a team ready to go.”

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - Low on food donations, but unable to tap into the community due to COVID-19 risks, the Amarillo VA decided to keep their food drive internal this year.
Usually the Amarillo VA relies on community donations to collect food and hygienic items for the veterans in the housing first program.
These individuals are all formally homeless and although they are now housed, many are still food insecure.
