Mort was a great man and a special person that meant so much to so many. He certainly had a strong and positive influence on all that knew him. Mort lived an extraordinary life and was an accomplished businessman and philanthropist. His support was instrumental in the founding of American Axle & Manufacturing. DETROIT (AP) American Axle & Manufacturing Holdings Inc. (AXL) on Friday reported first-quarter net income of $38.6 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.
On a per-share basis, the Detroit-based company said it had profit of 33 cents. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 57 cents per share.
The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 25 cents per share.
The maker of auto parts posted revenue of $1.43 billion in the period, also exceeding Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $1.31 billion.
