TUPELO â When Lee Pryor Caldwell and her husband, Rudy, moved to Tupelo in 1972, they built a big rose bed at the end of their driveway. I d always had a rose or two, but that bed probably had 30 roses in it, she said. When we moved to a new house in 91, I told Rudy I wanted a rose garden for our 30th wedding anniversary. It took three years, but I got a gazebo with a rose garden around it. I probably had 45 or 50 roses, but that counts everything â drift roses and Knock Outs, as well as hybrid teas.
Three years ago, the Caldwells downsized and moved again. The first thing they did was build her a rose garden.

Be a Fan Week motivates out-of-town visitors and residents to explore the cities by offering one-of-a-kind exclusive events, deals, and offerings. Be a Fan Week events include tea parties, group bike rides, plus art-centric activities. Tickets will be offered for festivals, museums, parks, and escape rooms at discounted rates to apply during the campaign or for future use. Also, planned for the week is a guided tour, scavenger hunt, and giveaways and freebies for attendees.
EAST COUNTY (KUSI) – A home in East County is inviting visitors to stop by and smell the roses. Ruth Tiffany is associated with the San Diego Rose Society and the American Rose Society. She has planted and grown over 750 varieties of roses all from her home off Maury Drive.
“I’m often out there, so it’s not unusual for someone to drive by and yell, ‘I love your roses,’ or ‘Way to go!’ or even honk,” Tiffany said. “I mean I believe I was put here on this corner to share this kind of joy. I was put here to share these roses, I’m pretty sure about that.”

This presentation by Dr. David Zlesak will cover the history of polyantha, floribunda, and hybrid tea roses relating to many of the newer disease resistant roses on the market today.
