The Arkansas state legislature has passed 3 anti-trans bills in less than a month. The latest limits access to medical care.
Trans people are taking about leaving, but they note that neighboring states are considering similar bills. There s not going to end up being a lot of places to run to, but a lot of places to run from, said one trans woman.
Jacqueline Middleton has lived in Arkansas for most of her life, but she plans on moving away from the state as soon as possible now that state lawmakers have pushed through three anti-trans bills in three weeks.
Sen. Liz Brown (R-Fort Wayne) said there is evidence of success with abortion reversal.
“If you vote no on this bill, you’re saying, ‘If you’re a woman seeking abortion, you shouldn’t get all the information you need to make a decision, ” Brown said.
The bill also requires parental consent for abortion to be notarized. Supporters say it helps ensure the parents are who they say they are and could help prevent human trafficking. Opponents argue it serves no purpose and invades a person’s privacy.
The measure is headed back to the House after a 36-14 vote in the Senate.

Lawmakers in the House of Representative debate a bill on Wednesday, March 17, 2021, in the Statehouse in Boise, Idaho. Lawmakers approved a massive income tax cut backers say provides much-needed relief but that opponents say is a giveaway to the rich that will result in long-lasting harm.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) A panel of Idaho lawmakers advanced two bills targeting abortion Wednesday.
The first bill attempts to dissuade women from having abortions if the fetus is diagnosed with Down syndrome. The other bill would eliminate government funding from health care providers, schools or other entities if they provide abortions, refer someone to an abortion provider or even contract with someone affiliated with an abortion provider for non-abortion services.
