Summerfest is still on for September 2021, but the largest music festival in the United States has lost a second headliner.
Originally, pop star Khalid had been booked for a one-off show at the Milwaukee music festival s upgraded American Family Insurance Amphitheater for 2020. But like nearly every major event last year, Summerfest was called off because of the pandemic. It was the first time the festival had been canceled in its 53-year history.
Khalid rescheduled the show for June 24, 2021. But in February, the festival was postponed from its original window to September, to allow for more time for vaccinations and for coronavirus cases and hospitalizations to go down.

Festa Italiana in Milwaukee canceled for a second year due to COVID-19
A second major ethnic festival in Milwaukee has been called off for the second year in a row.
Festa Italiana will not take place again in 2021, the Italian Community Center Board of Directors announced in a press release Friday, due to ongoing complications from the coronavirus pandemic.
“COVID-19 has impacted virtually every business and industry across the country. Around the world festivals, sporting events, conferences, and community celebrations have been canceled, or postponed, due to lingering effects of this virus,” Joe Emanuele, president of the Italian Community Center and Festa director, said in a statement. “Unfortunately, Festa Italiana in Milwaukee is among the festivals that will have to wait until next year.”
