The former president s letter of resignation Wednesday comes after the SAG-AFTRA board voted overwhelmingly that Trump violated the union s membership guidelines in the wake of the Capitol riot.
The former president s resignation provoked a two word response from SAG-AFTRA: Thank you.
Fox News exclusively obtained the letter sent to SAG President Gabrielle Carteris, slamming the union, the media and news organizations.

President Trump is resigning from the Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA), Fox News is reporting. Trump’s resignation comes after the union threatened to expel him following the Capitol riot in January. “Who cares!” he wrote in a letter sent to SAG President Gabrielle Carteris.
“I write to you today regarding the so-called Disciplinary Committee hearing aimed at revoking my union membership. Who cares!” Trump wrote. His disciplinary hearing was scheduled to take place this week.
The SAG-AFTRA board voted overwhelmingly that Trump had violated the union’s membership guidelines. “Donald Trump attacked the values that this union holds most sacred – democracy, truth, respect for our fellow Americans of all races and faiths, and the sanctity of the free press,” Carteris said last month. “There’s a straight line from his wanton disregard for the truth to the attacks
In a letter to the Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA), Trump slammed the union’s planned hearing after the board last month found probable cause that he had violated its terms over the attack.
“Who cares!” Trump wrote in the letter, provided by a spokesman and first reported by Fox News. “I no longer wish to be associated with your union.”
“Thank you,” the guild responded in its own statement.
The U.S. House of Representatives voted to impeach Trump on Jan. 13, charging him with inciting an insurrection in the rampage at the Capitol. Trump, a Republican, left office on Jan. 20 after losing re-election last year. He faces trial in the Senate next week on the impeachment charge.
