Georgia university regents restart search for new chancellor JEFF AMY, Associated Press FacebookTwitterEmail ATLANTA (AP) Regents who oversee Georgia’s 26 public universities and colleges are restarting the search for a chancellor, saying they are still trying to find a permanent replacement for outgoing leader Steve Wrigley before he retires June 30. Regents voted Tuesday after a nearly three-hour-long executive session to hire a new search firm after the previous search firm quit. The resolution by regent Neal Pruitt Jr. said the firm will consider current applicants and recruit new ones. If no permanent replacement is chosen by June 30, regents voted to appoint an interim leader for the 340,000-student system.

Last year s graduation was postponed because of the pandemic. The delayed celebration was held ahead of the Class of 2021 s commencement events on Saturday.   Out of the more than 400 that graduated in 2020, more than 130 former students attended, with some traveling from other cities and states to be there in person.

Missouri s social justice center restructuring paused after protests

The University of Missouri s diversity director on Thursday apologized to the Faculty Council for communication missteps in a plan to restructure social justice centers on campus. I certainly take ownership over the way this rollout happened and particularly for our failures in communication, said Maurice Gipson, vice chancellor for inclusion, diversity and equity. The restructuring plan has been halted in order to gather feedback from stakeholders, he said. July 1 is no longer a target date for implementing the plan.
