The AAVision, the Forefather of Modern Mercedes-Benz SUVs, Turns 25 This Month

The AAVision, the Forefather of Modern Mercedes-Benz SUVs, Turns 25 This Month 8 Jan 2021, 8:55 UTC · by Mercedes-Benz is no stranger to off-roaders, building the legendary G-Class since 1979, but the growing popularity of the sport utility vehicle (SUV) segment in North America during the 1980s encouraged the manufacturer to develop one too. In early 1991, the Stuttgart-based carmaker announced plans to build such a vehicle through a joint venture with Mitsubishi Motors. Mercedes Crossover Journey Began 25 Years Ago With The AAVision Concept

However, just because GM hasn’t listed any other brand doesn’t mean more offsite events won’t take place. Events outside of the auto show circuit have become more commonplace to control the news cycle, rather than compete with other debuts for coverage. Remember, GM didn’t have a scheduled debut for the 2017 LA Auto Show, but the 2019 C7 Corvette ZR1 showed up anyway.
