But, no, the cash should not be viewed as an invite to some giddy civic spending spree. First, as Sarasota City Commissioner Jen Ahearn-Koch noted in an interview with the Herald-Tribune Editorial Board, city officials still need to study the exact parameters on how the American Relief Plan money can be used. And let’s face it: huge stacks of cash usually come with plenty of strings firmly attached to the bag holding them. Don t hold your breath hoping there will be some magical exception to that rule when it comes to the $10.9 million we re supposed to receive.
