PolitiFact VA: Cline Skips Context with Green New Deal Claim

PolitiFact VA: Cline Skips Context with Green New Deal Claim U.S. Rep. Ben Cline (R-Va.) claimed last month the Green New Deal will cost the average American household about $75,000 each year. (Photo: Tom Fisk) Speaker: Ben Cline Setting: Floor speech Date: April 22, 2021 U.S. Rep. Ben Cline recently put an eye-popping taxpayer price tag on the Green New Deal - a bold but vague climate change-centered plan that has been roundly condemned by Republicans. “It crushes jobs, costs an average American household almost $700,000 through 2029,” Cline, R-Va., said of the proposal during a brief floor speech on April 22.  Think about it. The average annual household income in 2019, the latest year available, was $68,700. The average household cost of the Green New Deal, according to Cline’s statement, would be about $75,000 a year. Cline is essentially saying every penny of earnings by an average household will be swallowed by the plan.

Pro-GOP group takes aim at House Democrats over court packing

Louisiana Republican joins Fox Report to discuss the push by some Democrats to expand the Supreme Court EXCLUSIVE: An outside group that backs Republican causes is going up in 14 congressional districts controlled by House Democrats with ads targeting the push by some progressives in Congress to expand the number of Supreme Court justices. The American Action Network (AAN) on Tuesday is unveiling a new issue advocacy campaign charging that the Democrats are trying to seize control of the court. The ads, shared first with Fox News, will be seen in House districts with Democrats who are potentially vulnerable in next year s midterm elections, when Republicans hope to win back the majority in the chamber they lost in the 2018 midterms. AAN will also launch phone calls in those 14 districts, as well as in the districts of 34 other House Democrats.

Group opposing court-packing targets Malinowski with digital ads »

The American Action Network (AAN) – a leading national conservative PAC – began running digital ads on Tuesday voicing opposing to Democrats’ court-packing plans. 14 districts are on the target list, and other 34 districts will receive phone calls whipping opposition to H.R. 2584. “This is about consolidating control over every aspect of American life,” said AAN President Dan Conston in a statement. “In the last month alone, liberals in Congress have tried to steal the Supreme Court, hijack a Congressional seat in Iowa, add blue states to the Senate, and take control of every state’s election laws. The left wants carte blanche to enact their socialist agenda and will trample anyone or anything that stands in their way to do it. Every Member of Congress who cares about protecting American Democracy should condemn this shameless power grab.”
