Holder Says You Have Duty to Retreat ; Bloomberg Battered – American Free Press

• Bloomberg’s media attacks on pro-gun senators uniting opposition to New York mayor By Keith Johnson New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s relentless campaign to disarm the American people may be teetering on the verge of collapse as more of his gun-grabbing allies distance themselves from his failed strategies and dishonest tactics. Speaking before a pro-gun-control group on August 1, United States Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said that looming budget battles have made it impossible for he and his colleagues to pursue legislation that requires background checks for most gun purchases, including those made over the Internet and at gun shows.

The Biden White House is bad business for Trump-tied lobbyists

(Xinhua/ via Getty Images) Lobbying firms that flourished under former President Donald Trump are hemorrhaging corporate clients now that Joe Biden occupies the White House.  Trump campaigned on a promise to “drain the swamp.” But his election spawned a cottage industry of lobbyists many of whom had not lobbied in Washington before 2017 selling access to the president. Corporate America is finding it can get messy when it steps into politics. Why it matters: Urged on by shareholders, employees and its own company creeds, Big Business is taking increasing stands on controversial political issues during recent months and now it s beginning to see the fallout. Companies are being criticized by the left, their employees and customers if they don t step up, the right for cutting off insurrectionists and being too woke, and the left again if they withhold opinions on even more political flashpoints. Republicans also find themselves in a mess of their own making. While they chastise and threaten the companies that have cut off political donations after the Jan. 6 Capitol assault, they re leading the charge against the Democrats efforts to hike the corporate tax rate to pay for President Biden s $2.2 trillion infrastructure package.

ROBERTSON Associated Press RALEIGH (AP) A bipartisan legislative effort to improve the care of pregnant women in North Carolina’s prisons and jails will protect the mothers and newborns without diminishing public safety, supporters said Tuesday. Among other protections, the bill would prohibit physical restraints on incarcerated women before, during and after they deliver their babies. Democratic and Republican lawmakers alike are backing the measure, and a wide array of groups across the ideological spectrum from Planned Parenthood to the American Conservative Union are on board.
