Parlange to serve as URI s 12th President The Board of Trustees of the University of Rhode Island announced on Monday the selection of Professor Marc B. Parlange to serve as the University s 12th President He will succeed David M. Dooley, who joined URI in July 2009. Parlange’s appointment is effective August 1, 2021. He was born in Providence to parents who emigrated from France and Ireland. Parlange will leave Monash, a public university based in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, with an enrollment of more than 85,000 undergraduate and graduate students. URI has 17,000 undergraduate and graduate students, a budget of more than $800 million and four campuses.

By the time she was a teenager, she was almost completely blind.  “Accessibility is always an issue,” Clark said. “I ve never had an experience where accessibility wasn t an issue. But Clark never allowed her disability to stop her from achieving her goals. And one of those goals was to attend the University of Kentucky. The transition from high school to college can be challenging for any new student, but when Clark came to UK as a freshman in 2014, the Frankfort, Kentucky, native found herself facing more challenges than she was used to.

Lack of monsoon rainfall last summer and spotty snowfall this winter combined to worsen the Western drought dramatically in the past year, and spring snowmelt won’t bring much relief. Critical April 1 measurements of snow accumulations from mountain ranges across the region show that most streams and rivers will once again flow well below average levels this year, stressing ecosystems and farms and depleting key reservoirs that are already at dangerously low levels.
