The pandemic undoubtedly disrupted commerce across the world, particularly highlighting the critical nature of the supply chain. The baking industry – like other critical infrastructure sectors – has been no less affected by these challenges, notes the American Bakers Association (ABA), which is an executive committee member of the CISCC.
According to CISCC – a coalition of nearly 100 trade associations representing a wide cross-section of the global supply chain, formed in March 2020 – the experience has highlighted the difference between a disaster and a catastrophe.

National Pork Producer Council (NPPC) announced it has added two staff members to its Washington, D.C. office.
Jack Frye was hired as manager of congressional relations, joining Andrew Fisher as NPPC’s two lead Capitol Hill lobbyists. He most recently managed the National Restaurant Association s federal and state political advocacy programs and previously worked on Capitol Hill for Reps. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) and Ron Kind (D-Wis.).
Jack Detiveaux also began his role as manager of competition, labor and tax. He most recently was senior manager of legislative affairs for the National Association of Chemical Distributors and previously was senior manager of government relations for the American Bakers Association.
The Grain Chain, a farm to fork coalition of stakeholders in the grain industry sector and chaired by the American Bakers Association, celebrates the recommendation published today in the 2020-2025 Dietary Guidelines for Americans to "consume half of your grains from whole grain sources" and the remainder from enriched grains.
