CLEVELAND, Ohio It’s been 11 months since a cruise ship filled with passengers set sail from a U.S. port. And it’ll likely be several more before it happens again.
The cruise industry in the United States remains in a state of suspended animation, while the coronavirus pandemic rages on.
Cruise lines, meanwhile, continue to prepare for the day when sailing will resume, by updating policies and procedures that they say will keep passengers and crew safe and healthy.
Next month will mark a year since the global cruise industry shuddered to a halt as coronavirus spread. Despite some hope that holidays at sea would return in a meaningful way, ships remain largely free from passengers, with only river cruising in Europe mounting a significant comeback in 2020.
Might this be the standard requirement in the future? Telegraph Cruise explores the issue.
Will I need a vaccine to cruise?
If youâre hoping to sail with Saga Cruises, then yes. In January the over-50s specialists announced that any customer booked to travel with Saga Holidays must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 at least 14 days before departure. This was a first from a UK cruise line.

That’s a lot of oranges
One of the strangest mysteries that has fascinated me the most was the Dyatlov Pass incident. A group of hikers never returned after leaving on a trip into the Ural Mountains. The causes of death ranged from internal bleeding, head trauma and hypothermia.
A National Geographic article released last week (I posted the article below) declared that the cause of the death was releated to a small avalanche. It seems convincing enough after reading the article and watching some other recent videos about the incident (see below) but I’m curious to hear everyone else’s thoughts about the recent findings.

One cruise ship company is already announcing a vaccine requirement here in the U.S.
American Queen Steamboat Company and Victory Cruise Lines are the first U.S. cruise lines to mandate a coronavirus vaccine for passengers and crew.
The new policy will take effect July 1. Documentation of vaccination will have to be shown before getting onboard.
