Right-hander Domingo Germán will take the ball for New York, having allowed just two earned runs in his last two starts, while veteran Zack Greinke will take the hill for the visitors. Both teams held intense duels in American League Championship Series in 2017 and 2019, both Houston victories, and much has happened since then. This is sure to be a must-watch battle.

The former was named the American League’s Pitcher of the Month after a dominant April in which he had a 4-1 record, a 1.43 ERA, and 62 strikeouts against three walks (!), while the latter was the AL’s Player of the Week after two strong starts in which he had a 0.61 ERA and 15 strikeouts in 14.2 frames.

A long time coming, the Yankees finally are getting a chance to issue some payback to the Houston Astros for the 2019 American League Championship Series, and of course, the illegal sign stealing that occurred during their 2017 ALCS meeting and maybe two Octobers ago, too.
After not meeting during the pandemic-shortened 2020 season, the Yankees and Astros will play three times this week at Yankee Stadium.
Tuesday night’s series opener is scheduled to start at 7:05 p.m. YES and ESPN will televise the game.
The pitching matchup is Domingo German (2-2, 4.05 for the Yankees and Zack Greinke (2-1, 3.44) for the Astros.
Now, baseball fans know the flip side of the 1986 World Series.
