I have a headache… That will teach me for drinking too much? Not really. We had a good time, it was a great party and I will go on the wagon for a few days. Being older, I don’t recover as fast but I’m not addicted to consciousness modifying substances… I just indulge their existence.
I could feel despair nonetheless with my throbbing brains… But not really. I’m hopefully a learned optimist, even if some others people are loony… It will be a slow day… No noises please… But I still can think a little bit: for example, the intents of some good persons go astray… Take this email for example forwarded by an atheist mate who subscribes. Members of Evangelical Lutheran Church received a grant of $2,000 from the Endowment Fund of the Southwestern Minnesota Synod (SW MN Synod) of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) for their Lakeview Worship Enhancement Project in 2019. The members completed their project in the spring of 2021, and dedicated the worship furnishings during a May 11 special service at Lakeview Assisted Living, Heron Lake.

After 17 years of local ministry, Pastor James G. Kloster will bid farewell to Mandan at his final preaching service to be held at the American Lutheran Church, 1705 Sunset Drive, this coming Sunday. Pastor Kloster helped found the congregation in Mandan in 1992 and assisted in building it from five families meeting in a home to its growth of nearly 50 families. Pastor Kloster is a 1990 graduate of Luther Seminary, Minneapolis, and was in the first class of seminary graduates to be ordained in the just established American Lutheran Church. He is also a U.S. Army veteran and is a member of the Mandan American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Pastor Kloster and his family will be relocating to Fargo.

Roald Kindem
Roald Amund Kindem was born in Northfield, Minnesota, on May 16, 1929, one of eight children born to Ingvald and Anna (Sekse) Kindem. Following his graduation from Northfield High in 1947, Roald enrolled at St. Olaf College, where, as a student-athlete, he majored in history and earned varsity letters in football and track. After receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Olaf in the spring of 1951, Roald set aside a planned career in coaching when he sensed God calling him to public ministry. He enrolled at Luther Theological Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota, in the fall of 51.

ESCANABA On Sunday, April 25, 80 people gathered to celebrate the beginning of a new congregation. It has been a seven-month journey through COVID-19 and an organized effort of many faithful people to bring the new JOY Lutheran congregation together. Rev. Craig Nehring, dean of the NALC Wisconsin and Upper Michigan District, brought a message to the congregation and installed JOY’s church council: President Deb Wayne, Vice President Carrie Boudreau, Secretary Patty Lindstrom, Treasurer Donna Orzel, and council members Sam LaMarche, Sharon Pascoe, John Hendrickson, and Dave Stasewich.
