The Columbus chapter of the Professional Hockey Writers Association has nominated Blue Jackets forward Zac Dalpe for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy, the club announced today. The award is given annually to the player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey.
Dalpe, 31, registered two goals and an assist for three points with 22 shots, while averaging 10:37 of ice time in 12 games with Columbus in 2020-21. This season saw him appear in his first NHL games since a one-game stint with the club in 2018-19. The Columbus Blue Jackets have recalled forward Stefan Matteau from the taxi squad and assigned defenseman Gabriel Carlsson to the taxi squad, club General Manager and Alternate Governor Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.
Matteau, 26, has registered five goals and five assists for 10 points with 32 penalty minutes in 73 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets, Vegas Golden Knights, Montreal Canadiens and New Jersey Devils. Last season, he tallied 2-1-3 and five penalty minutes in nine outings with the Columbus, while adding 12-16-28 and 41 penalty minutes in 50 games with the American Hockey League s Cleveland Monsters. The Columbus Blue Jackets have activated Elvis Merzlikins off Injured Reserve and recalled defenseman Andrew Peeke from the team s taxi squad, club General Manager and Alternate Governor Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.
Merzlikins, 26, has missed the past three games due to an upper body injury suffered in practice on February 3. He has posted a 2-2-1 record with a 2.76 goals-against average and .913 save percentage in six games this season. He made his NHL debut in 2019-20, finishing with a 13-9-8 record, 2.35 GAA, .923 SV% and five shutouts in 33 appearances.
