Man Falls Off Mount Washington Nearly 1,000 Feet
Let’s be careful out there. I have driven up Mount Washington and it’s a wonderful drive. I don’t think I would like to tumble down nearly 1,000 feet and to be honest, I don’t think I am a skillful faller, I doubt I would survive. But Arild Hestivik of Newark, Delaware did just that. The skier made the trip up from Newark, Delaware just to ski Mount Washington.
Arild Hestvik had planned to ski down the chute called Main Gully on Mount Washington. He climbed up to the top of the main gully. This would all be pretty impressive if he was 35 but he is 61 years old which makes the feat pretty impressive. Unfortunately, his boot binding was separated from its binding on the first turn and Arild fell nearly the whole 1,000 feet of the Main Gully according to reporting by usnews.com.
Milk River Funding on the Rocks in the Montana Legislature?
Is funding for the St. Mary Irrigation Project on the rocks in the Montana Legislature? Apparently so.
It s a lifeline to the Hi Line. When you look at how important agriculture is to our economy, especially across the northern tier of Montana all along Highway 2, you also need to look at how important irrigation is to the farmers and ranchers.
We got a phone call from Jeff Pattison with the Milk River Watershed Alliance. He s a former lawmaker from Glasgow. He says lawmakers are looking at how to spend the near $900 million in federal COVID funds, and it now appears that some Montana lawmakers don t want to fund the St. Mary Irrigation Project.
Last Thursday, the Alabama State Senate passed a bill titled SB 308, which will set legislation in place for lifetime carry permits and a “firearms prohibited person database” to be created.
Some West Alabama sheriff s departments and gun groups are upset, as this bill will divert some of the money raised by permit sales away from police operations to the federal government.
As it stands today, sheriff s offices receive 100% of the funds raised by selling lifetime carry permits. Under the new bill, 20 cents of every dollar will go to the state.
Walker County Sheriff Nick Smith took to Facebook to voice his complaints, which he feels the public should be aware of and concerned about. The post went semi-viral, being shared more than 800 times on the social network.
