Two of Trump’s former top aides have a new pet project: arguing that part of the Biden administration’s COVID-19 relief bill is racist against white people.
A lawsuit filed in Texas by America First Legal, a new group formed by former Trump senior adviser Stephen Miller and former Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, argues that aid earmarked for non-white farmers is discriminatory. The group is representing Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller in the suit, who is suing in his capacity as a private citizen and a farmer.

The Biden administration’s distribution of stimulus funds earmarked for “socially disadvantaged farmers and ranchers” illegally discriminates against white people, according to a lawsuit filed by a new legal group with ties to former President Donald Trump.
America First Legal, started in April by Trump’s ex-senior adviser Stephen Miller and former Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, among others, filed the suit Monday in federal court in Fort Worth, Texas, on behalf of the state’s agriculture commissioner, Sid Miller. The suit challenges the Biden administration’s definition of who qualifies as “socially disadvantaged.”

Stephen Miller and Mark Meadows filed a lawsuit accusing the Biden administration of discriminating against “white ethnic groups” in the distribution of COVID-19 aid for farmers and ranchers.
The prospective class action lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court in the Northern District of Texas stems from the debt relief afforded to “socially disadvantaged” farmers and ranchers as part of the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) that Congress passed last month. Photo credit: Iowa Corn With Texas agriculture commissioner Sid Miller as the plaintiff, a Trump-aligned legal group on Tuesday challenged the $4 billion debt-relief plan approved by Congress for Black and minority farmers, saying it was unconstitutional. “Americans of all races and ethnicities must have the opportunity to receive” USDA loan forgiveness, said America First Legal Foundation in announcing the suit. The lawsuit, filed in federal court in Fort Worth, says U.S. history is filled with discrimination against white immigrants based on their countries of origin or religious beliefs, so white farmers should qualify for debt relief although they were not included in the legislation. Aid was directed to socially disadvantaged farmers, defined as Black, Hispanic, Native American and other minority farmers.
