What did you ask for over the holidays? Surely not an infestation of foreign spies in your phone or laptop, but that’s the present you would’ve received had you been foolish enough to click on some very dodgy texts and emails swirling around the internet late last year.

An infamous Middle Eastern hacker cell, APT 35 (also known as “Charming Kitten”), recently launched a spear phishing campaign tailored to the festive December atmosphere: texts and emails wishing recipients a “Merry Christmas!” and a “Happy New Year!” that were, of course, loaded with spyware. This campaign was meant to ensnare high-level personnel in the U.S., Europe and the Middle East that Iranian intelligence services are interested in, said researchers with security research firm CERTFA.

Last year was a watershed moment for sex tech. For the first time in CES’s decades-long history, the category wasn’t banished to the dark corners of the showroom floor. This was after a contentious 2019, when the Consumer Tech Association (CTA) revoked an award from Lora DiCarlo’s Osé sex toy for being “immoral, obscene, indecent, or profane.” The backlash made headlines, the rescinded award was re-awarded, and CES 2020 was a “trial” for sex tech as a category. If it did well, perhaps the CTA would welcome back sex tech exhibitors to the world’s largest consumer electronics show in 2021.

Mossimo Giannulli began a five-month prison sentence in late November, and is scheduled to be released in April 2021. (Meanwhile Lori Loughlin was slapped with two months and has since been released.) Apparently, after “56 days in solitary confinement,” Giannulli is done with jail and wants to go home.

E!, Giannulli’s attorneys filed an emergency motion to modify his sentence, requesting that the judge allow him to carry out the remaining three months of his sentence at home. His lawyers claim that Giannulli was supposed to quarantine with minimum-security inmates, and then get transferred to a minimum-security prison instead, they say he was placed into solitary confinement, only allowed to leave three t
