According to the Australian High Commission in Fiji the doses arrived into Nadi to further assist the Fijian Government’s COVID-19 vaccine rollout. “We know this is a difficult time for our Fijian vuvale who are battling the recent COVID-19 outbreak and we want you to know Australia stands ready to support in whatever way we can – these latest doses are part of this support,” the Commission stated on its official Facebook page – Australia in Fiji.

The ADF Royal Australian Air Force aircraft flew in the AstraZeneca vaccines, inclusive of humanitarian supplies yesterday. These supplies included: ✔ 1,300kg of Australian-provided medical supplies (biohazard bags and pipettes), PPE (gloves, gowns and masks) ; ✔ 640kg of Fijian Government-procured medical supplies and PPE (biohazard bags, pipettes and gowns); and ✔ 30 tents provided by UNICEF Pacific for use as field clinics (if required).
