Cabinet has agreed to the introduction of the Mental Health Care (Amendment) Bill into the National Assembly. The main object of the Bill is to amend the Mental Health Care Act to provide that the duty, which is mainly a medical duty, of reviewing mental patients who are suspected of having committed a criminal offence or who are in the custody of the police or who are detainees in a reform institution referred to in the Reform Institutions Act shall be performed by the Managerial Committee instead of the Mental Health Commission.

Anti-doping Bill on the cards | Sunday Standard

24th January 2021 Botswana is preparing legislation on anti-doping in line with international best practice. The Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development, through consultations with affiliated stakeholders such as World Anti-Doping Agency, Regional Anti-Doping Organization (RADO), Attorney General’s chambers, Botswana National Olympic Committee (BNOC) and Botswana National Sport Commission (BNSC) are working on a bill of a National Anti-Doping Organisation (NADO).  This was revealed by NADO Anti-doping officer, Ntebogang Khubamang. Khubamang said there is no definite timeline for NADO to be fully setup in the Botswana since setting up a NADO is a process that takes time due to matters arising from compliance issues. She added: “NADO is an independent organisation, funded by the local government. Despite funding from government, it is an autonomy body that independently does its business without interference from government.
