The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and the Blue Economy is alerting the public how Fish markets across the island will close with immediate effect for today – Saturday 10th April 2021.
The Ministry is taking this step due to the Advisory from the Barbados Meteorological Services concerning Volcanic Ashfall and minimising any effects as a result, the Ministry also reminds everyone to continue following the COVID-19 protocols as directed.

The federal government on Saturday decided to take action and file criminal cases against those behind last year s petrol crisis, sources said.
Sources said officials from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), Petroleum Division, and people from the oil marketing companies would be named in the cases.
The cabinet committee probing the matter has ordered the setting up of a monitoring cell in the Petroleum Division.
It further recommended the government stop relying on the data from the advisory committee and advised it establish a new testing lab.

Earlier today, customers and vendors in the Barbados Association of Retailers Vendors and Entrepreneurs (BARVEN) market on the Mighty Grynner Highway braved the cloud of ash which hung heavily across the island.
Head of BARVEN Alistair Alexander said they had a duty to supply Barbadians with food and that is what they came out to do. He added they would not be out for as long as customary, given the waning visibility.
At the Bridgetown Fisheries Complex on Princess Alice Highway, vendors were busily trying to sell fish to last minute customers over the fence, as the guards closed the gate stopping people from entering.
