Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and the Blue Economy, Sonia Foster, outlined some of these benefits, as she addressed the virtual opening ceremony of a training programme hosted by the Pinelands Creative Workshop, in collaboration with the ministry on Monday. While speaking on the topic “Supporting the Blue Economy through Social Enterprise”, Foster said the ministry also proposed to install and deploy Fish Aggregating Devices (FADS) in Barbados’ territorial waters to increase fish catch, according to a statement issued by Barbados Government Information Service.
