The Pakistan Snow Leopard and Ecosystem Programme (PSLEP), aimed at preserving the endangered wild cat facing habitat destruction, has engaged students and women of the local community to protect the depleting living natural space and generate alternative income opportunities for the masses.
PSLEP National Project Manager Jaffaruddin on Sunday said that human and wildlife conflict has increased between the residents in the northern areas and snow leopards, the vulnerable big cat inhabiting the snow-clad mountains of trans-boundary region of the Himalayas sprawling over Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Chitral and Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B).

The Ministry of Climate Change (MoCC) has warned the residents of the federal capital to shun the one-time use polythene bags, saying a drive against them will be launched from March 1.
Joint Secretary MoCC Syed Mujtabah Hussain held a public awareness campaign along with representatives of the Islamabad Capital Territory Administration, the Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency, the Islamabad Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the Traders Association of Pakistan, and the All Pakistan Non-Woven Bags Manufacturers Association on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, the joint secretary said a one-month relaxation had been given in the enforcement of the ban imposed on the one-time use of plastic bags.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam Tuesday said Prime Minister’s 10 Billion Tree Honey project would generate millions of green jobs and boost untapped potential of honey exports of the country.
Addressing the inaugural session of a one-day national workshop and the Launching of the National Apiculture Programme or Apiculture Scaling up Programme for Income and Rural Employment (ASPIRE), which was the country’s first largest honey beekeeping promotion programme, he said proper branding, sampling and international standard packaging of the honey produced under the 10 Billion Honey (TBH) would be ensured to attract precious foreign exchange.
