Japan provides $9.89 million for project to promote cross-border trade on Tajik-Afghan border

AKIPRESS.COM - Official singing ceremony of the new phase of LITACA project aimed at improving livelihoods in Tajik-Afghan cross border areas was held on December 16 in the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan. UNDP will implement the third phase of the project, funded by the Government of Japan, between 2021 and 2024 with a total budget of $9.89 million.
UNDP has been implementing the project in close cooperation with the governments of Tajikistan and Afghanistan since 2014. LITACA III is continuation to this flagship partnership between JICA, UNDP, the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan, and the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development of Afghanistan.

Construction Works of Eight Development Projects Completed

Kabul (BNA) The construction works of eight development projects have been completed and put into exploitation in Farah province.
According to BNA report, the development projects has been built with a sum of 28 million Afghani by financial assistance of Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development in Qala Mohammad, Qala Behboud, Askar Abad, Dekhodaydad and Hemat Abad regions of Farah city.
The projects include digging of water wells, extension of electricity network, reconstruction of water canals and water supply networks.

Washington, December 11, 2020 The World Bank Board of Executive Directors today approved two grants totaling nearly $85 million from the International Development Association (IDA), as part of a $393 million financial package to help Afghanistan alleviate COVID-19 impacts and improve access to clean water, sanitation, and public services.
COVID-19 has imposed a severe social and economic burden on Afghanistan. As they face the pandemic and ongoing conflict, many poor and vulnerable Afghan households subsist on daily earnings, have little or no access to water, sanitation, or healthcare.
