ISLAMABAD: Like in the past, religious segments have succeeded in applying brakes to the process of streamlining seminaries and entangling the incumbent government in legal and official lacunas.
This is evident from the fact that out of around 30,000 madressahs that exist in the country, only 295 have applied for registration.
However, Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood seemed optimistic about the registration process.

Dawn, Mr Mehmood said: “Things take time; they (seminaries) have given us assurance in writing, therefore, registration will be done and we will get it done.”
Private publishers allowed to develop textbooks in line with Single National Curriculum

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: On the direction of the Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood, the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training has issued a letter to all provincial and area governments regarding the Single National Curriculum (SNC) Textbook Policy on Wednesday.
According to the SNC Textbook Policy of the ministry, private publishers are allowed to develop these textbooks aligned with Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) prescribed by the SNC.
In this regard, private publishers require the No-Objection Certificate (NOC) by Provincial/area Textbook Boards to enable the Boards to check any inclusion of anti-Pakistan, anti-religion, or any other hate material.

Pakistan will see the start of the Single National Curriculum (SNC) in the next academic year, which is due to begin in August 2021, the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training announced on Wednesday.
According to the ministry, under the directives of Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Shafqat Mehmood, the new year would start now in August 2021 due to extension in examination dates to be held in May/June and also prolonged school closures in the academic year of 2020 .
