BEIJING, May 8 (Xinhua) China has seen the standard urban and rural subsistence allowance reach a monthly average of 684.1 yuan (about 105.7 U.S. dollars) and 503.8 yuan per capita, respectively, by the end of March, up 7.7 percent and 9.9 percent year on year, the Ministry of Civil Affairs said Saturday.
The country s subsistence allowance scheme had covered 7.94 million urban residents and 35.97 million rural residents by the end of March, the ministry said at a regular press conference.
The total funding for subsistence allowances amounted to nearly 46.2 billion yuan from January to March. Enditem

BEIJING, May 8 (Xinhua) China has issued revised guidelines for qualifying the vulnerable for social relief, including more people facing difficulties into the support scheme, the Ministry of Civil Affairs said Saturday. Apart from including more people living with disabilities, China s social relief network will provide support to poor families whose legal caregiver is over 70 years old and earns less than the local average disposable household income of the previous year, or families where the caregiver lives with disabilities and is supported by the social relief scheme, according to the guidelines.

BEIJING, May 8 (Xinhua) Chinese authorities have shut down 20 websites of illegal social organizations in a special campaign, the Ministry of Civil Affairs said Saturday.
Investigations were concurrently carried out following 35 groups of leads, which concerned 216 social organizations.
The ministry also published a list of 160 illegal social organizations shut down by local civil affairs authorities.
Launched on March 20, the inter-agency campaign is expected to last for three and a half months. Enditem
