All passengers already on their way to India until the ban came into effect would be subjected to a mandatory RT-PCR test on arrival, the government stated.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation on December 21 announced its decision to ban all flights to the U.K. from December 22 midnight until December 31 in an effort to keep out a new highly infectious coronavirus strain that is rapidly spreading in England.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation on Monday announced that the government has decided that all flights originating from the UK to India will be suspended considering the emergence of a new and highly infectious strain of the coronavirus in Britain.
On its official Twitter account, the Civil Aviation Ministry said that the flights will be suspended from December 22 (23.59 hours) till December 31, 2020.
In a follow-up tweet, it said, “As a measure of abundant precaution, passengers arriving from the UK in all transit flights (flights that have taken off or flights which are reaching India before 22nd Dec at 23.59 hrs) should be subject to mandatory RT-PCR test on arrival at the airports concerned.”

Earlier in the day, chief ministers Arvind Kejriwal and Ashok Gehlot warned the government of the mutant strain and urged to immediately ban the international flights connecting to the UK.
