Row over Tandav escalates
In the wake of massive backlash against Amazon Prime’s latest series Tandav, Filmmaker Ali Abbas Zafar and the entire cast and crew of Tandav has issued an unconditional apology. In an official statement shared on his Twitter account, Ali Abbas Zafar has said that they have been closely monitoring viewer reactions to Tandav and The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has also informed them about a large number of grievances and petitions that have been filed against its content. In response to which, they want to express that Tandav is a work of fiction and any resemblance of acts and persons in purely coincidental.

New Delhi [India], January 19 (ANI): Taking cognisance of the concerns expressed by viewers against his Amazon Prime Video-based show Tandav, filmmaker Ali Abbas Zafar on Monday extended apologies through an official statement.
Zafar s debut web-series Tandav had been mired in controversy since its release as several viewers said the content hurt religious sentiments.
The Sultan filmmaker shared the official statement from the cast and crew of Tandav on Twitter and wrote Our sincere apologies along with it.
Through the statement, Zafar shared that the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting had informed him about a large number of viewers filing petitions against the show.
“NBA’s board also wants to place on record that the corrupt data released month after month has not only led to reputation loss but has also caused huge financial losses to news broadcasters for which BARC is duty-bound to give an explanation,” the association said.

“NBA has already conveyed to BARC that the ratings are unreliable as far as we can see and should continue to be suspended in light of the recent revelations which shows the arbitrary nature of functioning at BARC. PANAJI: The 51st edition of International Film Festival of India (IFFI) will have its opening ceremony on Saturday, in the presence of Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar and Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant. IFFI, which takes place from November 20-28 every year, was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic and will now be held from January 16 to January 24.
The ceremony, to be held at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium here, will kickstart the festival s first hybrid mode edition, where delegates can participate and watch films and events virtually.
Multiple Academy Award-winning cinematographer Vittorio Storaro will be honoured with the Lifetime Achievement award at the ceremony.

New Delhi [India], January 11 (ANI): Bangladesh will be the Country in Focus for the 51st edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) to be held in Goa on January 16.
According to an official release by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB), the Country in Focus is a special segment that recognizes the cinematic excellence and contributions of a particular country.
This section at the 51st IFFI will showcase four films, namely: Jibondhuli by Tanvir Mokammel, Meghmallar by Zahidur Rahim Anjan, Under Construction by Rubaiyat Hossain, and Sincerely Yours, Dhaka by Nuhash Humayun, Syed Ahmed Shawki, Rahat Rahman Joy, MD RobiulAlam, Golam Kibria Farooki, Mir Mukarram Hossain, Tanvir Ahsan, Mahmudul Islam, Abdullah Al Noor, Krishnendu Chattopadhyay, Syed Saleh Ahmed Sobhan.
